Joint stiffness can lead to long-term limitations in basic activities of daily living. SENS1 is a device providing motion feedback in music to the patient. It begins to play when the subject reaches the required range of motion. A study of 30 subjects shows SENS provides instantaneous feedback to the patients. All participants in this validation study valued the concept of the device enjoyed the ability to select their songs, and the instant feedback is provided.
OT’s observation and experience: Clients’ poor performance in rehabilitation. OT’s lack of knowledge of the client’s performance at home. Lack of insights to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatments. One of the most common sequelae after elbow fracture or dislocation is joint stiffness. Elbow stiffness can lead to long-term limitations in basic activities of daily living. Stiffness in an elbow joint is one of the most challenging and disabling complications after a traumatic injury. Early mobilization is the essential component in helping to regain full mobility but also aids in decreasing edema and inflammation. Active gentle stretching is one of the safest methods of treating joint stiffness to regain full pain-free mobility. In practice, OTs face a real challenge to keep their patients on track of their training plan. For many reasons, most patients fail to conduct rehabilitation exercises on their own consistently, especially children.

What is SENS: A Bluetooth speaker controlled by a motion-tracking sensor. The device can be connected to a music player through Bluetooth connection (a smartphone). The play will be controlled by the users’ joint motion. The range of motion is adjustable based on the OT’s request.
